At the end of the President’s State of the Union address Speaker Pelosi ripped up the copy of the speech behind the President, on live television. This unprecedented act was disrespectful of the Office of the President, the Office of the Speaker of the House, of the House of Representatives (the People’s House), and the people of this great nation.
Speaker Pelosi’s very public actions brought disrespect, shame, and embarrassment to every citizen of these United States of America. As the leader of the People’s House, Speaker Pelosi’s petty actions can not be allowed to go without consequence. The Speaker should be censured immediately by both the Unite States House of Representatives and the United States Senate.
To allow the Speaker’s actions go unadmonished is to invite more division, rancor, and pettiness into our political system and our society. It is leaders such as Speaker Pelosi that should be setting a tone of civility-amid-disagreement, not promoting further division and divisiveness.
Should we not expect and demand more from our elected representatives? Are these the examples we want set for the world and our children to see? Absolutely not! And we call upon you to send hear our voices and send our message loud and clear.
